Meet baozi
What are baozi?
Baozi are Chinese filled buns cooked by steaming. Dough wraps around a filling and is folded closed at the top by hand. The soft bun and the filling are enjoyed together in each bite.
If you are discovering Chinese steamed buns for the first time, the photograph above shows our baozi: the filling is enclosed inside the bun, with the folds gathered on top. At Nine Garden, we prepare them by hand and steam them in bamboo steamers.
From our first taste
Braised pork baozi
Traditional braised pork baozi are one of the Nine Garden specialties introduced in our preview. Handmade preparation and bamboo steaming are part of the craft behind them.

From Chongqing to Prague
A craft in every fold.
The craft behind Nine Garden began in Chongqing in 1931. Hand-prepared dough, filling and time in the steamer remain at its centre. Shaping the dough and closing each bun by hand carry that tradition forward.
Prague is the next chapter of that story. At Nine Garden, baozi sit alongside other flavours of Chinese cuisine, and we look forward to welcoming you at Westfield Chodov.
